The orchids mentioned in this article refer to Chunlan, Cymbidium, Jianlan, Molan, and Cymbidium. Watering in winter with lower temperatures, orchids can reduce the amount of water to increase the concentration of cell fluid, which is conducive to the formation of flower buds, so the basin soil can maintain a certain humidity. For orchids that already have flower buds, it is even more argent that the basin is too dry or too wet, otherwise it will affect flowering. Watering time should be warm at noon. Antifreeze orchids usually do not freeze at temperatures above 0°C. ??(1) In the north, orchids must spend winter in the greenhouse in winter, from the end of September to the middle and early April of the following year. However, ventilation should be maintained to prevent stifling heat. ??(2) In the Yangtze River valley, the orchids are moved to the sheltered houses under the sun in the winter. Temperature control If the temperature is properly controlled in winter, normal orchid flowering can be ensured and the vegetative growth of orchids can be promoted. ??(1) For Chunlan and Cymbidium, if the room temperature is around 10°C, the flower buds formed will die under the soil surface, or the peduncle will not elongate, affecting the normal opening of flowers. If given at a low temperature, the buds are actually enriched and give a good flower. For Jianlan, Molan and Huanlan, the temperature is about 10°C. (2) If possible, warm the orchids, keep the room temperature at 15°C during the day and 5°C at night. It is divided into three stages. One is to warm up the plants in late autumn and early winter to promote full ripening. The other is not to warm in mid-December to late January. Only 5°C is needed to allow it to grow slowly.
